Reinterpretation of Matisse's Icarus, 1947

My photography project Vive Matisse! draws inspiration from the vibrant and expressive works of Henri Matisse, while embracing a contemporary reinterpretation through the lens of the female gaze. By casting models of diverse body types and races, I aim to challenge conventional beauty standards and bring forth the strength and uniqueness found within each individual.

Matisse's artworks have long been celebrated for their dynamic use of color, form, and composition. With a deep appreciation for his mastery, I have embarked on a journey to recreate his iconic pieces, breathing new life into them through the casting & handcrafted sets.
